6 must- read books by amazing women

When I look back at the books I’ve read recently, they all seem to have been written by some completely kickass women. Insert celebration emojis here. It’s really a trend that I hope never ends, and for good reasons too. If you’re experiencing burnout or frustration with your career and are in need of inspiration, or just want an empowering read filled with laughs, I recommend picking up anyone of the following:

1. Lizz Free or Die by Lizz Winstead

2. #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso

3. Why is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling

4. Yes Please by Amy Poehler

5. Bossypants by Tiny Fey

6. Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham*

    FOUND SOME PAPER BLOG

    • Ooooh interesting! Maybe start with Yes Please next? It was one of my favorites!

  • Great List. I’ve read BoossyPants but left halfway through. It was just okay okay. Gotta check your other suggestions too.

    • Can i ask what prompted you to leave half way through? Couldn’t get into it? I hope you enjoy the others!

  • Veronica

I loved #NastyGal! I’ve been on a similar kick, a few other great ones: Lean-In (which I’m sure you’ve heard of ;)), Thrive by Arianna Huffington, and my current fave – Leave Your Mark by Aliza Licht

    • I actually haven’t heard of ANY of these! My goodness thank you so much for sharing Veronica! Adding them to my list asap :)

  • Allison Dragsten

I loved Wild by Cheryl Strayed. There are so many great books by female authors out there and I love memoirs like these.

    • Wild has been on my list for so long! I really should do something about that! Thanks for the reminder Allison :)

  • Carolyn Corrigan

I agree with Allison, Wild was a great book and made me feel like I could do anything. I also listened to the Bossy Pants audiobook on your recommendation. Tina Fey reads it and it was so funny! I just kept laughing in the car (all by myself) all the way to my mom’s. I look forward to reading some of these!

    • Oooh nice, adding it to the top of my must-read list! Bossy Pants on audiobook must have been amazing. You should read Yes Please or Is everyone hanging out without me next if you’re looking for laughs (and tears).

  • Caitlin Jenkins

I love these kinds of books! You should definitely check out “How to Be A Woman” by Caitlin Moran. It’s a smart, funny, and altogether empowering read.

    • Oh YES! Ill absolutely add that to my list. Thank you so much Caitlin!
