Perhaps it’s the warmer weather, or the fact that we need a little more cheer than ever before, but the colors of summer are here to stay! Through the fall at least!
This year I have seen more vibrant approaches to fall decor and it’s AMAZING. From painted pumpkins to wreaths and more, color is alive and well. You don’t have to stick to traditional reds, yellows, oranges, and browns anymore if you’re planning to decorate (though it’s more than okay if you want to). In fact, it seems that the entire color wheel is up for grabs.
If you’re looking to give this trend a try, here are a few simple ways you can incorporate more color into your home this season!

Paint a Rainbow
Whether you’re decorating your mantel, front door, or another corner of your home, painting pumpkins and gourds in an ombre rainbow fashion is such a fun way to bring in that punch of color! Because you’re mixing you’re mixing a classic fall decor staple with color, it totally works. Painted pumpkins also make a great substitute for flowers if you line them in a row on your dining room table. And if you use faux pumpkins, they last a lot longer!

Break out the Paint
The key for adding color into your fall decor, without it feeling out of place, is transforming items typically associated with the season. For example, pinecones and pumpkins are great natural elements. And while they’re great on their own, with a brush of paint, you can add your own pop of color to make them really come alive. You can really get creative with leaves too, perhaps making a wreath (like pictured above), or an oversized mobile to hang on the wall.

And when all else fails, just turn your pumpkins into an actual rainbow! It’s certainly more playful and whimsical than spooky, so of course this style isn’t for everyone. I am personally from the school of you can never have too much color, but I think a part of me will also stick with the classic fall/Halloween approach– though a neon pink skull does sound like fun!
I’d love to know, what do you think of this trend? Are you into the extra color, or more of a traditionalist?
