I know that winter can be grey, but that doesn’t mean you can’t bring color and fun to your wardrobe! These pom pom gloves are sure to brighten up any overcast day and you can make them in any color that you want with a simple trick. Here’s how:
– Gloves (got mine for $1 at Joanns)
– Yarn
– Dye for synthetics (if gloves + yarn aren’t pure cotton)
– Bowl for dye bath
– Gloves for dye
– Pom pom maker
– Scissors
– Needle + thread
Start by dying your gloves and yarn. Pom poms require more yarn than you might expect so it helps to cover the arms of the tool first to give you an idea of how much you’ll need to make two poms. Let dry fully before moving to the next step.
I love this project so much because you can buy one thing of white yarn but end up with a rainbow of colors. It’s such a great way to save a bit of money without forgoing your favorite color choices. I made all the colors you see here with plenty of white yarn left over!
Now to make your pom poms! If you’ve never made a pom pom before, there are a few different tools out there. This is the type I used and here’s a video to help you learn how.
All that’s left to do is secure it to your glove. I just threw a few stitches with a needle and thread, but you could also just use a safety pin if you wanted them to be temporary.
Even if you don’t want to dye your gloves, it would be easy just to add a pom pom to the ones you already own! Because if we can’t have spring weather, we can still have spring colors!
