Celebrate Fair Trade Month with a Free DIY Workshop!

Free DIY Workshop!Guys! I have really, really fun news!

At this point, especially after my recent studio tour, y’all know I’m a total West Elm fan girl. I’ve been lucky enough to team up with them again, but this time we’re bring the craft to you with a free DIY Trivet Workshop! To celebrate Fair Trade Month, the project will be using felt balls crafted by their partner at Everest, a family-run factory in Nepal that employs 200+ artisans– 90% of them women!

As if that wasn’t cool enough, this workshop is especially great because if you live in/near a city with a West Elm, you can join! That’s right, you don’t have to be Philly local because it’s an all store event. All you have to do is head here, select the store closest to you, then RSVP directly on the site. Space is limited, so don’t wait!

And if you attend the workshop, please tag me (@thecraftedlife) so I can see your creation. I’ll be sharing some of my favorites on Instagram stories over the weekend!

Holiday Maker Fair

Holiday Maker Fair, Philadelphia PAWell friends… I’ve decided to throw a craft fair! When I moved to Philly last December, I was looking for a way to buy holiday gifts for friends/family from local makers. While there were few fairs, there wasn’t anything that seemed to be as curated and inline with the style I was looking for. Which is why I decided to put an event together myself!

The Holiday Maker Fair is going to be during First Friday, so while you’re out and about, be sure to stop in, grab a drink and shop from 20+ awesome Philly vendors. You can get more details, including the list of shops that will be selling, on the Facebook event page (please invite all your friends). Seriously guys, it’s going to be a blast!

PS for those of you not in the Philly area, I’ll be sure to do a write up of all the vendors after so you can at least visit their shops online!

West Elm Embroidery Workshop Recap

Embroidery Workshop Recap, West ElmA few weeks ago, Lisa from Zelma Rose and I hosted an embroidery workshop at West Elm in Emeryville and I thought I’d share some photos today! By no means am I an embroidery expert, but that’s what was so great about this event; with a few basic stitch techniques, everyone was able to create custom and fun wall art for their homes.

Embroidery Workshop Recap, West ElmOne of my favorite aspects about hosting a workshop is gathering the supplies. There just something about so much crafty goodness is one place that makes my brain rush with creativity. Minted provided the fabric for the event and boy did it blow me away. So many fun prints and patterns. I can’t wait to use the leftover scraps for some upcoming projects (stay tuned!). DecoArt also provided the paint so we could color block and match the fabric perfectly.

Embroidery Workshop Recap, West ElmEven though I wanted to buy the entire store by the time everyone was done crafting, West Elm provided such a perfect space for the event. I mean, look at that bedding and that exposed brick!

Embroidery Workshop Recap, West ElmIf you weren’t able to attend the event but are curious to know how to recreate this project at home, don’t worry, I got you covered! I’ll be sharing a tutorial very soon!
