Making DIY projects for our wedding was one of my favorite things about the day. Looking back on the photos we not only remember the wedding itself, but we also get to remember the times we worked on the projects together. The DIY colorful wedding decor ideas add an extra sentimental layer to an already special day.
If you’re in the midst of wedding planning, I hope that you’ll consider making something for your event! DIY projects allow you to customize your decor specific to your needs, not to mention they can really be budget friendly. A win-win for any party!
Here are the DIY decor ideas we made for our wedding:
DIY Wedding Seating Chart— This was by far one of my favorite wedding DIYs that we made! I love that it was functional during the day and that we were also able to use it as a photo backdrop. Add flowers and disco balls to really make it a statement piece.
Our Colorful Wedding Altar, brought together beautifully by our florist Devon + Pinkett, was another of my favorite pieces for the day. I could be biased, but there’s a chance I might say that after every DIY shared here.
For the fabric, I ordered 10 yards each of polyester chiffon. Aside from the flowers, the altar came together for around $125!
Acrylic Table Numbers are a fun way to add color to your tables. It’s also the perfect way to bring in the same font from your wedding invitations. Plus if you use removable vinyl, you could reuse the acrylic stands again and again!
Why have basic wedding stationery when you could have Confetti Wedding Programs?! Even though we didn’t end up throwing the confetti, using it for the stationery brought a level of fun and set the tone for the day.
And of course I had to customize the confetti program holder! I found this glass card box from Amazon and added vinyl to the front, again using the same font from our invitations. I also filled the box with the same confetti from the programs to tie it all together.
Signature Drink Sign— a great way to add color to your wedding bar and let your guests know what is in your signature cocktails. Signage is extra helpful on your wedding day because it helps communicate important messages with your guests. You could also make a similar sign for your menu or even program if you prefer!
It’s really simple to make your own card box! Just grab a glass box that opens on a hinge and add a bit of vinyl to the front. Pro Tip: be sure to use a t-square to ensure your letters are applied evenly. Simple and reusable after the wedding!
Lastly, our rainbow wedding favor tower! We grabbed gift boxes from Minted and filled them with chocolate and aspirin. I also ended up designing and making a custom sticker to seal the boxes. For signage, I used the same acrylic pieces that we used for our table numbers!
And that’s it for our DIY colorful wedding decor ideas! Which one was your favorite?!
