Yesterday I shared a tour of our previous colorful Brooklyn apartment, and today I wanted to share a look into our new place! We’re still in Brooklyn, but instead of a larger apartment building, our apartment is in a historic brownstone. Even as I typed that, I still can’t believe we live here. I’ve wanted to live in a brownstone for a large part of my life and we finally found a place! Here’s a look at the inside:
The home was built in 1846 and has so many incredible features including… the original hardwood floors! Just wanted to take a moment to give the floors the credit and love they deserve because to this day they are stunning and were such a huge selling part for renting. The fireplace also works and we’ll be having so many cozy fires this fall and winter!
Our previous apartment was a one bedroom, so we really wanted more space with this move. After going through lockdown in NYC, having a bit more room to stretch out was at the top of our list for wants in the new apartment. We ended up finding a two bedroom and it feels like night and day. Our previous place was also very open concept where as this place has a few doors. We can actually be in a different room and have time to ourselves!
The second bedroom is just the perfect size for an office. I’m currently working on building my desk and hopefully optimizing every last bit of space in this room. Ideally it will have built in storage and a large work area now that we have the space.
Another want at the top of our list was access to fresh air. Since we were on the 12th floor, the windows in our previous place didn’t open more than an inch. It’s something that definitely got to us during lockdown. We now have a private roof patio out the back which will be perfect for working on projects and for honestly just sitting and enjoying the gift of being outside.
And for the bedroom. This is the biggest bedroom I’ve ever had– it’s the same size as our living room! It’s also the smallest closet that I’ve had so I’m thinking of building a wardrobe and using the closet for storage. More on this and the other 50,000 projects I have planned to come!
