WHAT A MONTH! I went from having a full time job of blogging to now two full jobs (blogging and wedding planning). I feel like my mind is racing with thousands of wedding DIYS and I can’t wait to share a few in the future. Now that March is wrapping up, I’m feeling thankful that spring is here. I’m looking forward to warmer weather, blooms on the trees, and of course Easter candy. Before I get ahead of myself, here are some behind the scene moments from March:
With the way editorial calendars and brand approval works, sometimes you have to shoot content way in advance. And sometimes that means doing a spring shoot in the dead of winter. Ryan and I were out in 20 degree weather and an actual wind storm to shoot this collab with DSW. You wouldn’t know it looking at the photo, but it took us a week to thaw.
And then sometimes there are shoots where I have props that need to be transported by subway (here’s the final image). I do my best to shoot mornings on the weekend when the trains are less crowded, but this job has certainly gotten me to shake any form of shame that I had when it comes to getting yourself out there and getting the shot. Turns out people don’t really care as much as we think they do!
One last fun work update– I got to talk about Pantone’s color of the year in Women’s World magazine this month! A magazine that was in just about every grocery store in the country! They also included a shoutout to my book which was beyond exciting. If you haven’t grabbed your copy yet, it’s still available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Target, Books A Million, or even your local bookstore. If you’re in Canada, try Indigo or your local bookstore.
Well the biggest news: WE GOT ENGAGED! It feels like it’s been chaos ever since between planning, parties, Ryan’s birthday, work and more. I’ll share our proposal story soon. And if you’re excited to see what I’m thinking for the wedding, check out what I’ve been pinning.
Other good news is that I was able to go to the dentist for the first time in 12 years. The report wasn’t good (I’ve got some fillings and a root canal to take care of) and I wish that I had gone sooner, but honestly I feel grateful to have the privilege of getting my teeth fixed at all. It’s stressful and uncomfortable, and if you’d been putting it off, JUST GO. It gets worse the longer you wait.
Here’s to April!
