Smell ya later May, it’s time for June! Actually aside from Game of Thrones ending, May was a perfect month. It’s peony season, summer is coming, and I’m about to celebrate one year of living in NYC. Not to shabby if you ask me! Here are a few behind the scene moments that happened this month.
I’ll be announcing something fun over on Instagram tomorrow, so be sure to follow along! Hint: if you’re in NYC, this one is for you.
Behind the scenes this month there’s been a lot of brainstorming. I think it’s safe to say we’re all fed up with the daily news so I’ve been thinking about the bigger purpose of this blog (queue existential crisis music). I want to be sure I’m contributing to the good into the world and providing you with valuable content. I don’t want to alienate anyone and hope that I can inspire anyone to add a little color to their lives; however, I also don’t want to be silent when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights and safety, family separation, racism, reproductive rights, and the millions of other hateful acts that are happening in the country on a daily basis.
There will always be DIYS, fun, and joy here, so don’t think that the blog is going to turn into another news outlet. I’d just love to come up with creative ways we can use our voices and help just causes. These are not normal times and if history has taught us anything, it’s that silence can be dangerous and that apathy is not an option.
Personal
We had our engagement party! My parents came to visit! I found my wedding dress! We had our engagement photoshoot! It really has been one of the best months and I feel so lucky. We’re less than a year away from the wedding and I can’t wait.
The city is warming up and coming alive and my winter coat is officially packed away. My friend Julie visited from Maine and we went to Coney Island for the first time this year. It’s by far one of my favorite NYC spots that it always feels so unreal how close it is to the city. If you’re ever in town, be sure to add it to your list!
What were your May highlights?!
