It’s been a bit quiet over here lately and today I can finally share more about what’s been going on behind the scenes! Really, a LOT has been happening. Three life changing things in fact, so let’s just get right into the big, big news!
1. I’m Writing a Second Book
My first book Hello Color came out in 2018, and I’m finally ready to write another!
This one is surprisingly NOT a craft book! My goal is for everyone to be able to add color to their lives, regardless of their making abilities, so I wanted to make it a bit more approachable.Â
So what will it be about? It’s a guide exploring the many benefits of inviting color into your life via home decor, fashion, and personal practices and choices. Basically a how-to for all things color without any of the hot glue. I’m also shooting all the photography for the book, and Ten Speed Press is the publisher, so expect lots of color and really fun details throughout.Â
It’s tentatively expected to come out next fall, so I’ll be sure to keep you posted with the timelines, pre-order dates, behind the scenes and more. I really can’t wait for you to see and hold this book. I think it could very well be my best work to date.
After 5 lovely years in NYC, it’s time for our next chapter. Michigan will be a new state for both of us, so please feel free to send along any and all recommendations (especially where the best Detroit style pizza is or if it’s even possible to get a good bagel in the Midwest). Really the pro/con list process was very involved and took us months to make. We chose Michigan for a few different reasons:
It’s cute, more affordable, will ideally be a better future move for climate change reasons, it’s close to Canada, closer to my family, and we can maybe buy a house one day. Long term there was no way we’d ever be able to buy in the city or surrounding areas. We’re both really longing for a space that’s ours and that we can fix up, so I’ll be sharing more about our house hunting process coming up as well.
But really the biggest reason for the move is…..

3. I’M PREGNANT!!!!
Just saving the biggest piece of news for last over here! We’re having a baby girl in July! I’m already in my third trimester, so she’ll be here very soon which still feels surreal. We experienced a pregnancy loss and then I had a trip to the ER in the fall before we found out in November I was pregnant. I’m sure I’ll share more on that later because it’s been an absolute wild ride behind the scenes over here. But all has been well since and we’re very excited!
So really, this was the big reason we’re leaving New York. Since I’m self employed, I unfortunately don’t get any type of maternity leave. We split our rent and so if I’m not working, it’s harder to make ends meet. Let alone the cost of daycare and life in general in the city. So for the long haul and better of our growing family, we have to leave. It’s bittersweet but ultimately the right move.
I’ll need to finish the book, move, and house hunt all before her arrival. No big dealllllllll. But really, if it’s been a bit lighter on posting lately, that’s the main reason why. I’ll be updating more on social than here, so if you want behind the scenes of it all, be sure to follow along on Instagram Stories.
Wish us luck!! I can’t wait to share more about all these changes soon!
