Earlier this year, Ryan and I moved into a Brownstone apartment in Brooklyn (check out our home tour if you missed it). This is my first time living in a historic home and it’s having an influence on the way I want to decorate. I want to design the space to fit our aesthetics, but I also want to make sure that I’m honoring the home. People have lived here for decades before me and they will after me. I’m just happy to be part of the home’s life for the time that I am.
I’ve been doing a lot of searching for how to decorate for this type of home and let me tell you, some spaces I’ve come across are truly jaw-dropping. I’m talking about next level dream homes here. Instead of keeping all the inspiration to myself, I thought I would share the brownstone interior design with you!

We actually have very similar floors as this place and it’s so exciting! The crown molding is making my heart sing, not to mention the two-tone wall is a great use of color.

This is from the same home as the photo above, and OMG again with the color! Love seeing historic homes that aren’t afraid to be bright and fun. Can you imagine wallpapering the ceiling? If we owned, it would definitely be at the top of my list after this.

Am I still drooling over these pink chairs and those flowers? Yes, yes I am. I am also really crushing on the idea of layering art on the mantel.

Now while this home may not technically be a brownstone, it is 200 years old and has a similar vibe! The shutter doors and built-ins are everything I want in a home.

Two words: arched doorway. This kitchen is a whole other apartment compared to ours and I would gladly move in and store my shoes in the oven.

I know this one is a product shot, but this TABLE! I love the idea of having multiple color chairs as a way to infuse as much color as possible. I’ll definitely be using that technique in our space, so keep an eye out!
