For Mother’s Day this year, give mom a homemade gift that’s full of color! These DIY colorful painted bangles are easy to make and can really brighten up anyone’s day. I won’t blame you for making a set for yourself too (because that’s exactly what I did). Here’s how:
If your wooden bangle has any rough texture to it, you’ll want to give it a light sanding with sandpaper before painting. This will make the paint apply smoothly, but it will also make it comfortable to wear.
Start by painting your bangles a base color. Be sure to paint the inside as well to give your bracelets a polished look. Two coats will give you the best color results (let the paint dry in between coats).
Cut your stencil out from the pack and apply to the bangle after the base color is dry. The back of the stencil is adhesive so it will stay in place while you work. Lightly apply color with a foam pouncer. If you apply too much paint at once, you may get some bleeding with your stencil, so work in light layers. Remove stencil, let dry, and repeat until the pattern is all the way around the band.
Wear them individually or stacked as a set. I personally suggest wearing them in rainbow color order for that extra ROYGBIV accessory!
