Thank you all so much for the kind words and love on the new site design + shop launch!! I’m so so happy that you like it! I wanted to kick this week off with a super easy DIY that anyone can do. Life is hard enough right now, why add any more stress, right?! Here’s how to make a DIY rainbow pencil cup in just a few steps:
– Pencil cup
– Rainbow washi set (available in my shop!)
– Scissors
I picked up the pencil cup in a set from Ikea for less than $5 (order-able online). You could also just add the tape to the one you have! The washi tape is tearable by hand, but using scissors will give you a nice clean line.
To make sure your tape is evenly spaced, I recommend placing your first and last color first, and then work your way in towards the center. Washi tape is easily removable, so you can reposition if you need to.
You can either fold the washi over the tops and bottoms (like I did in the photo above), or cut it exactly to size. It’s really just a personal preference! I personally love the fold over on the top where the pens are so that the rainbow is visible even on the inside.
Continue placing the tape on all sides until they’re all covered.
And that’s it! It’s such a simple project, but it brings so much color and joy to my desk that I just had to share. I hope you’ll give this one a try! If you want to take your rainbow decor one step further and bust out the paints, also be sure to check out the rainbow recipe card box I made.
PS you can pick up the print from this space here and the yellow paper clips here!
