Heading into the holiday season and winter can only mean one thing… it’s time to eat! So much for that wedding diet, right? To help keep your recipes organized, and to brighten up your kitchen counters, make this rainbow recipe card box! It can be done in a few simple steps and you can even scroll down to grab free printable cards. Here’s how:
– Wooden recipe box (found at Michaels)
– Paint brushes
– Paint in rainbow colors
– Tape
– Sealant
– Wooden letters (optional)*
*My original plan for this project was to spell out RECIPE in wooden letters on the front, but because I liked the clean look of the stripes without it, I went ahead and skipped that step.
Start by painting the inside of your box and letting it dry before moving on to the base coat on the outside. I suggest you let this dry overnight so that when you tape off for the stripes, the paint doesn’t pull up.
Tape off your stripes and paint. Peel the tape when wet then let dry fully before sealing. Because this box you’ll most likely store this box in the kitchen, and it will come in contact with food, don’t skip the sealant! This will make it easier to clean down the road.
I love the pop of color it brings to our kitchen and think it matches the recipe cards well! If you missed the earlier blog post on the recipe cards, you can still grab your free download here!
