One of my New Year’s goals for 2020 is to read more. I used to read all the time, but just haven’t much within the past few years simply because I haven’t been scheduling the time for it like I should. I blame Netflix. I’ve got a few books already on my nightstand all ready to start and what better way to keep my place than with DIY statement bookmarks! They’re playful, fun, and easy to make! See how to make your own in just a few simple steps:
What You’ll Need
– Brother P-Touch Embellish ELITE Printer
– White Brother ribbon
– Silicone bookmark mold
– Resin
– Gloves
– Glitter, confetti, etc
Using the Brother P-touch Design & Print app, design your ribbon. To stay inside the bookmark mold, you’ll want to keep the design to around 4.9″ long. I also found that using a bolder font like Brussels helps with readability once cast in the resin.
Cover your work area and wear gloves before beginning. Mix your resin together and add a touch of glitter into the mixture for an extra bit of sparkle. Start by applying a very thin layer of resin to the silicon bookmark mold. Spread evenly then add additional mix ins like confetti or sequins.
Place your printed ribbon face down and cover the back of the ribbon with the resin. Do your best to not overfill the mold. Let cure in the mold for 72 hours.
Remove and add extra embellishments like a pom pom or tassel!
And that’s that! Opening a book is just that much more fun with these DIY Statement Bookmarks that I think it might just be the thing I need to keep me on track for reading more this year. I’d love to know, what are some of your favorite books? Anything I must read ASAP?
