Time: 1.5 hours
Materials: wood slab, nails, string, hammer, clothespin
Ive seen a few string art tutorials floating around the internet and decided it was time to give the project a try for myself! While it ended up being a bit more intense than I expected (sorry downstairs neighbors for the noise), I’m really happy with the results. Here’s how I did it:
The main problem I had was that the nails were so small, making it hard to hit them in without hitting my fingers. I recommend getting skinny nails that are a bit longer, though not too long or they’ll go through your board.
Choose what shape you’d like for your art, print image, cut out. Secure with tape, then hammer nails in around the edges. *Tip* use a clothespin to keep nail in place if you want to avoid hitting your fingers!
Once all nails are in place, tie a knot around one nail and begin stringing. There’s really no wrong way to do this, so have fun! End with a knot, cut the excess string and you’re all done!
