Time: 1 hour + overnight dry
Materials: wood, saw, paint, paper, mod podge, magnets, E-6000 glue
After swooning over these Illustrated Birch Christmas Ornaments by Love From Ginger, I knew I’d have to scavenge for wood when home for the holidays. My fridge is looking a little bland, so instead of ornaments, I decided to make wooden magnets. Luckily, my dad is amazing and was able to lend a hand!
Remove a dead branch from a tree or find a fallen, dried one (we used Oak). Slice into thin pieces, no more than half an inch in diameter.
Cut out the paper design you’d like to use for your magnets. I used the cover of this calendar.
Paint your wood chip. I traced a circle around my paper cut outs for safe measure.
Let dry!
Glue your paper cutout to the wood chip, then seal with a layer of mod podge.
When the front has dried, flip over and glue a magnet to the back. Let dry for 24 hours before sticking on the fridge.
