As if last year couldn’t get any busier (between moving across the country, writing my second book, and having a baby), we closed 2023 out with buying a house! And it only took me two months to edit the film tour, which I have to say as someone without childcare, that’s not bad. Be sure to check out my Youtube channel or press play below to take a walk through of our home before we move in:
American Foursquare House Tour
I will have more photos to come, and certainly more before and afters, but the best way to show you the space was to make a Youtube video. That’s right, my channel is back! It’s been a while, almost a year actually, but I’ve been teaching myself Final Cut Pro while Evelyn naps and it’s been fun. I hope you enjoy the tour!
Here are a few additional details about the house:
The Details
The house is an American Foursquare build somewhere between 1900-1920. We’re still exploring the history of the home, but one thing we do know is that it was originally a convent for nuns that taught at the school next door. So yes, my money is on the fact that it’s haunted. The space is over 100 years old and still has the original heart pine floors and wood trim throughout. We won’t be touching or painting so you can take a sign of relief now.
Our goal for the space is to restore as much as possible and to keep things close to the time era, while still having it be our own and being comfortable (i.e. I will have air conditioning). There were updates made in the 50’s-60’s as well as in early 2000, so it’s a mixture of design that we’re hoping to make a bit more cohesive.
There’s a lot of work that needs to be done on the house, some cosmetic, some functioning like leaks and roof replacement. Oh and if you’ve been following along on Instagram we also have a colony of bats living inside with us now too. But that’s the joys of an old house! And we’re beyond fortunate to call it ours.
I’ll have more renovation projects, colorful makeovers, and behind the scenes coming soon! If there’s anything specific you want to see, just let me know! I can’t wait to share this journey with you!
