Alright friends, how about we kick Monday off with a happy DIY?! As much as I love fall, I’ve never really been a huge fan of traditional spooky Halloween decor. Love a scary movie, but I don’t love getting scared in my own house for a month straight, ya know? If you’re looking to celebrate the holiday, but don’t want to go full force into zombies and monsters, try making these happy ghost pumpkins instead! I seriously haven’t stopped smiling since I made them and hope they’ll brighten your day as well. Here’s how:
What You’ll Need
– Black tissue paper
– Mini white pumpkins
– Mod Podge (matte)
– Sponge brush
– Scissors
You can also use a paint pen for this project, but I prefer the look of the tissue paper because the black is even/solid (no paint mark lines). Since this project takes a bit of effort, you may want to consider using fake pumpkins so you can bring them out each year. This is something I wish I had done!
How to Make Happy Pumpkins
1. Cut out two eyes and a mouth of your black tissue paper. To make sure the eyes are the same size, you may want to double your tissue paper.
2. Mod Podge your tissue paper shapes in place and then coat with another layer.
3. Let dry and that’s it! There’s nothing more to it!
It’s so fun to come up with a variety of happy pumpkin faces by playing around with shapes and paper cutting, so let loose and have a good time with it!
I love displaying 2+ more together because they really just look like a happy group of friends! PS I got the inspiration for this project from an episode of Bob’s Burgers, so whoever said binging TV isn’t helpful is dead wrong because this is probably the cutest thing I’ve ever made.
What do you think? Do smiles and halloween work or do you think the spookier the better?
