That’s right, it’s WAFFLE WEDNESDAY!
I may just love waffles as much as Leslie Knope. And then have them colorful, wellll, sorry diet, I’ll see you next summer. These color dipped waffle bites make the perfect dessert if you are having breakfast for dinner. They’d also make a cute mini bite at a party. Heck, they’re even a tasty afternoon sugar fix! Here’s how you make ’em:
First, let’s be real. I used a box mix to make the actual waffles. It still taste pretty great, but feel free to use your own recipe if you’re looking to go the homemade route. Other than that here’s everything else:
Tools you’ll need:
- Waffle Iron
- Cooling rack(s)
- Knife
- Small bowls
- Spatula
To make the icing you’ll need:
- 2 cups powered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 3 tablespoons 2% milk (just what I had, you can probably use other types)
- Food coloring of choice
Make your waffles first and let them cool on the cooling rack while you make the icing (you don’t want to dip them when they’re hot). Cut into fours. The initial icing will be cream color so you can change it any color you want. It helps to have small bowls if you’re making multiple colors so you don’t have to make as much icing.
Tip your bowl to the side, dip your waffle in and then scrape the back of the waffle against the side of the bowl as you pull it from the icing. Set back on the cooling rack until finished. Serve immediately.
They say for a well balanced diet to make sure your food is as colorful as possible, right? I’m sure this is exactlyyyy what the doctors had in mind.
