Living Room Makeover: The Reveal

Rachel of The Crafted Life gives her living room a much needed colorful makeover! It’s reveal day, Y’ALL! In case you missed it yesterday, be sure to check out the rest of the before shots here so you can get a sense of how much of an upgrade this is! I can’t tell you how good it feels to have this space in my house finally done. As soon as I put the last item in place, I took a step by and felt like a legit adult. Up until now the only proof that I’m an adult is that all my money goes to bills. This was a different and much better feeling.

There’s a source list for all items at the end of the post. But let’s get to the photos first!

I wanted to bring in as much color as possible without making the space feel overwhelming. The living room is the main room in the house where I relax after work, so while color is the best, too much can be over stimulating when trying to unwind. The gallery wall (art from Minted) was an easy way to bring in an variety!

Rachel of The Crafted Life gives her living room a much needed colorful makeover! My biggest struggle was figuring out what to do with the empty wall space my TV. I already had a gallery wall on the opposing wall, so more art just seemed like too much. After chatting with some friends (looking at you Molly & Lidy!), I decided to keep it simple and went with a shelf. This particular one is the $6 from ikea and I painted the brackets ($.50 each) with a coat of pink.

Rachel of The Crafted Life gives her living room a much needed colorful makeover! It took me about 10 months to finish decorating the space, but I’m so glad that I was patient. It allowed me to go big and save for those more expensive items (like the sectional sofa) and really get the right art for the gallery wall. When you take your time, you’re more likely to end up with pieces you’ll love forever, verses those that you just like in the moment.

What a pretty room! It’s so fun and stylish. We have similar tastes in art; I can see some there that I always wanted and admired. And that coffee table is stunning! Great choice for the space. You must love coming home to this now!

    • Thank you so much Antonella! And yes that coffee table was my dream table. I just need to seal the marble it turns out. And how fun that we have similar taste in art! I’d love to see your home :)

This turned out so so so good! I love the amount of color in the room – and that couch and coffee table are to die for! You’ve inspired me to redo our family room now ;) Well done girl!

    • Thank you so much Clarissa! It took a while to hang but now I don’t see it coming down anytime soon haha

  • Lisa

It looks so good! Your timeline makes me feel so much better about the progress we are (or aren’t) making on the new house! We just finished painting the living room last night, but due to some unforeseen heating woes, I realistically won’t be able to get new furniture that fits the room until sometime next year. Slow and steady makes for satisfaction down the road though. Good reminder!

    • Lisa! Thank you so much friend! So sorry to hear that y’all ran into some housing woes! It’s hard to not have a space done when and how you want it, but I promise on the day you do actually finish you will feel so much happiness. I can’t wait to visit and see how everything turns out!

  • Gorgeous space! I love how vibrant it is and that sectional is spectacular! Well done!

  • Carolyn Corrigan

Daaaaaayum girl! You’ve got skillz. And yes, I used a Z so you know it’s legit. Place looks great! I’ll have to come see it in person :)

  • Love your style, Beautifully Done. Can I please ask where you got your rug from in the Before shot? I’m in Australia, but maybe if I find it, I could see if I could get it shipped here (or magic carpet its way over here!)

    • Thank you so much Claire! I got the rug from rugusa.com! I think they should be able to shop to you :)
