Celebrating all things October with a new color crush: golden yellow! While this is the perfect color for fall, it’s also the perfect color to bring into your home and life immediately. And year round for that matter! I’ve loved this particular shade of yellow for a long time (not to be confused with bright yellow from a previous color crush), and it even has a place in our bedroom decor which you can see in the photos below. If that’s not proof enough of how much I love this color, keep reading to see exactly why this color is crush-worthy.
Color: Golden Yellow
Pair it With: Golden yellow is the color halfway between amber and yellow on the RGB color wheel. It can certainly stand alone, or pair it with another color or two to build a bright palette. Warm pinks are my immediate favorite pairings, but lately I’ve been loving golden yellow with pastels like cool lilac and orchid. Purple is it’s complementary color after all. Blues/teals will bring a coolness to golden yellow for balance and just about any shade will look great.
Why it’s Crush-Worthy: Even though it’s the perfect shade of yellow for fall (in my opinion that is– sorry orange), because of it’s warmth and pop, it really can be used year round. There’s something special about a color that can feel seasonal and yet fresh throughout other months too.
How to Bring it Home:Â I know I’ve probably never said this before, but this color really works wonders in small doses. For example, for our bedroom, I used bedding that was color blocked golden yellow vs being entirely yellow. It has that brightness to bring your eye in, but it’s not entirely overwhelming in the space. One great application would be to paint the back of a bookcase. A bit of color will peek through and make your books really stand out. Painting a door would also be a great use for this color. Golden Yellow cabinets or chairs would look amazing, especially if in a room with natural light and white walls.
I also have a blanket in this color (you might remember it from the DIY Blanket Ladder project)– such a great and easy way to start bringing this color home.
