It’s reveal day, Y’ALL! In case you missed it yesterday, be sure to check out the rest of the before shots here so you can get a sense of how much of an upgrade this is! I can’t tell you how good it feels to have this space in my house finally done. As soon as I put the last item in place, I took a step by and felt like a legit adult. Up until now the only proof that I’m an adult is that all my money goes to bills. This was a different and much better feeling.
There’s a source list for all items at the end of the post. But let’s get to the photos first!
I wanted to bring in as much color as possible without making the space feel overwhelming. The living room is the main room in the house where I relax after work, so while color is the best, too much can be over stimulating when trying to unwind. The gallery wall (art from Minted) was an easy way to bring in an variety!
My biggest struggle was figuring out what to do with the empty wall space my TV. I already had a gallery wall on the opposing wall, so more art just seemed like too much. After chatting with some friends (looking at you Molly & Lidy!), I decided to keep it simple and went with a shelf. This particular one is the $6 from ikea and I painted the brackets ($.50 each) with a coat of pink.
It took me about 10 months to finish decorating the space, but I’m so glad that I was patient. It allowed me to go big and save for those more expensive items (like the sectional sofa) and really get the right art for the gallery wall. When you take your time, you’re more likely to end up with pieces you’ll love forever, verses those that you just like in the moment.
You might also recognize a DIY from the shelf! I’ll be sure to put together a post on shelf styling too because this one was a bit tricky, but I think in the end it came together okay!
So that’s it! I really, really love the space and wish I could have you all over for a movie night or something! If you have any questions about where anything is from, feel free to ask in the comments. Here’s also the promised the source list:
