Happy Monday friends! Boy am I excited to show you a preview of my room makeover today! There’s still a bit left to do, but I really couldn’t contain my excitement about this diy mounted wall desk. After rounding up these creative workspaces, I fell in love Old Brand New’s midcentury wall desk. So, instead of buying a new desk for my office space, I decided to give Dab’s tutorial a try!
In all honesty, I was a bit overwhelmed looking at the instructions online, but I have to tell you, it’s SO much easier than it seems and I am beyond thrilled that I went for it.
I decided to paint my brackets a variety of different colors because the more color the better, right? I used the laminate boards recommended in the original tutorial, but part of me wishes I would have made custom ones because the screws (that hold the board onto the bracket) aren’t as secure. It did, however, save a ton of time and I can always go back later and add them if I want.
Overall, the unit cost about $220 for all the supplies and took a little over an hour to install. The fun part is that the shelves can me moved up, down and around, so if I ever get bored with my space, I can change it up for free.
So what do you think?! Maybe it’s the fact that the pin actually worked, or that now my room is much more colorful, but I’m totally smitten with it! I can’t wait to show you the full space next week! LOVE this, Rachel! My parents had something like this in their office when I was super young and I love how the trend came back around. My question: how sturdy does the desktop feel, both side to side and also weight-bearing-wise?
Love how you styled the desk and the spray painted brackets are so great. ????
Yay, thank you so much Jenn! I love that the trend is coming back around too, it’s just so good. And the desktop feels sturdy for day to day but I wont ever put a lot of weight on it just in case. Right now I have my iMac and I’ll put my elbows on the desk and that seems to be okay!
I LOVE it! What a beautiful space! I have a few of these shelving combos lying around…literally…they’re under my couch right now, but haven’t figured out how I want to use them. I might have to give this a go!
Oh you are so sweet, thank you Gabi! And yes, pull those shelving combos out! It’s instantly become my favorite space in my home :)
AHHHH-MAZING!!! I’m obsessed! I love that it can be changed around to suit your needs, and the colors are so dreamy. Can’t wait to see the rest of the room!
Thank you so mcuh Carrie! You know I just had to add some color :)
WOW! I love this!!! You did such a great job and I love how you added a personal touch to it by adding a pop of color to those brackets. I can’t wait to see more!!!

Thank you so much Lidy! It’s become my favorite space overnight. Which I guess is great considering how much time I spend at the computer haha
Your space looks dreamy!!The idea of using color brackets instead of the boring brown is spectacular, makes such a difference.
Marwa, thank you so much! Color is always the better option in my book :)
Looking good so far!!
Thank you so much Amy!
Was waiting for this since you Snapchatted it! BEAUTIFUL work, Rachel!
Oh girl, you know Ive been so excited about it! Thank you so much Amy!
Ah, I came over here just to tell you it reminded me of the desk from Old Brand New, and I see the reason why! Yours needs more plants, though ;-) Great job! If only my crafting area were anywhere near this photogenic.
Oh I know, Dab really crushed it with the plant game! I have a feeling I might not be as good as keeping them alive though aha!
This is beautiful!!
Thank you so much Laura!
So so good! Painting the brackets was genius!
Haeley, thank you so much! I almost wanted to paint the shelves, but I’m glad I held back this time.
Perfection!
Thanks girl!
Ah! I love it! So pretty and so much storage!
Thanks Alexis! Yes! Oh and boy did I need storage!
Hi! Totally obsessed with your DIY desk…so modern but still functional. I noticed your little washi tape holder and wondered if you wouldn’t mind telling me where you got it? I love washi tape so I have a ton of rolls and think that’s such a cute way to display them. Thanks in advance!! :)
Love it! Can you share where the planter is from?
Of course! I got it here: http://modernica.net/case-study-cylinder-plant-pot-with-standbrsmall.html
