Annnnnd the results are in! Thank you so much for taking the time to fill out the reader survey for this year. I love hearing from you, learning what’s working on the blog, and what you want to see more of. The winner from the shop giveaway has been notified via email so be sure to check your inbox! If you didn’t win, use code: SURVEY for 25% off everything in the shop until Friday 1/21 only!
Now onto the results from the survey + a look at what the top post of last year was:
1. What’s your favorite color?
Most of you love the color green, followed by blue, then pink! I must say looking at these three together is inspiring a new favorite color palette. I fully understand the moment green is having right now, because my favorite project from last year was this hutch makeover.
2. Have you ever made a project you’ve seen on The Crafted Life?
This percentage is actually up from last year which is so exciting! I have a few projects in mind for this year that I think you’ll already want to try. In the meantime, there’s a whole DIY gallery on this site that should hopefully inspire a project or two!
3. What video style do you like most?
A majority of you like videos to be about 2-5 minutes, and I get it!! I have a hard time committing to extra long videos and sometimes short reels don’t give me everything I need to take on a project. I try to keep all of my YouTube videos around 2-5 minutes, so be sure to follow along there. I also share video content on TikTok that I don’t really share anywhere else. I’m going to be experimenting a lot more with video this year, so I’m hoping to give a mix of styles of videos. If you’re not into video at all, don’t worry! I’ll still be sharing photos + step by step here.
4. What type of blog posts are your favorite?
I’m so glad that you love creating as much as I do! I think having those handmade elements and details, whether for home decor or for the holidays, make everything that much more special.
4. What type of home decor posts do you want to see?
I’ve learned a lot from decorating our new apartment, and I’d love to share it with all of you! In fact it’s a big goal of mine for this year to show you more of the behind the scenes of how things come together, including simple styling hacks.
5. Any other type of posts you’d love to see?
A common thread that I saw for this result was: thrifting, taste test, NYC, how I’m staying positive.
I’d love to show you more of my city and everything I love about it. The sad part is that we don’t go out anymore, especially with this recent COVID wave. Ryan works in a public school that’s in person and we have no intentions of getting any of the students sick. So we’re staying home, for what feels like the 100th year in a row. All I want to do is get a drink at a bar and see a movie. And I hope that day comes this year for all of us!
I’ll be keeping all of the other suggestions in mind when planning out content to share. I’d love to go more in depth how I’m developing a new style from living in an old house and how I’m doing a mix of vintage, modern, and homemade. There’s more to come this year and I cannot wait to share it with you!
And now for the top post for 2021…..
This was a project I originally shared in 2016, but revisited it this year with a new technique (as you may remember from the colorful wooden bead garland DIY I shared). I’ve updated the original post with a few new notes and photos because I’m absolutely obsessed with this project! Colorful beads can be used in so many projects and I hope you give this one a try.
So that’s it for this year’s reader survey! Thank you again for sharing your insight and for your help. Here’s to a colorful and crafty year ahead!
